In this class you can expect to:

  • understand the basics of cupping and how it can benefit your clients

  • explore four different cups that you can mix and match depending on the client

  • learn massage routines that include each of the cups and the best places to use them

  • be able to use cups, with and without magnets, on the back, neck, hips, arms, and legs.

  • learn assessment and contraindications for clients

In this class, you will learn how to use four different cups in your massage practice:

Baguanfa- the foundation of “movement” cupping that can also be used stationary. These cups can be used most anywhere on the body.

Vacuum Cups- the cups can be used with or without magnets, solo or in conjunction with each other and other cups to facilitate a deeper pull of tissue.

Bell Cups- a very effective cup set that can be used in several areas of the body, specifically in the neck and shoulder, to help with lymphatic drainage and opening and releasing the tissue.

Magnet Cups- like needleless acupuncture, these cups provide a gentle release to the tissues using positive and negative magnet charges.

Learn proper body mechanics and different types of techniques to incorporate in a fully body massage, or spot treatments.

Melanie has been using massage cupping for over fifteen years and teaching for over twelve. She started as a deep tissue, neuromuscular therapist, and quickly went to craniosacral and myofascial therapy, working with a lot of trauma. It was only after she was sending clients to acupuncturists for cupping and they called her to get trained in it herself that she started training and fell in love with the modality. She hasn’t looked back and uses cupping daily for muscular work.
