Melanie Osborn- The Body Listener

Melanie Osborn grew up very sickly, coming from a long lineage of mental illness, chemical dependency, poverty, and trauma. She has worked hard to heal herself and family, and break the generational cycles. She started her studies in psychology and sociology in college and then became a massage therapist in 1998. In the first month of her practice, she asked how the body healed- and answers started flooding through her clients’ bodies. Different energy systems and modalities showed up in each of her sessions- one at a time- with which Melanie was guided to work.

Always result-based, she uses a combination of empowerment and wellness strategies in coaching; bodywork and energy work to release old injuries, traumas, and patterns; subconscious re-setting to neutralize blockages; and intuitive connections to get messages that best serve the client. She works with pediatricians, physical therapists, doctors, and facial myologists; as well as executives, practitioners, and academics, allowing her work to transcend beliefs and groups.

In sessions, Melanie uses any combination of mental health counseling, somatics and fascia work, and wellness and healing coaching. Each session is different based on the client's needs and beliefs, coming in their terms and understanding. Focus is always on reducing and reversing conditions and balancing body and mind- while being real, with some good ‘ol humor.

Melanie's background includes creating empowerment programs at the Girl and Boy's Club in the early 90s, working as an HIV educator in schools with the Red Cross, studying Psychology and Sociology at the University of Iowa, being a medic in the Army National Guard, training as a civilian EMT and paramedic, licensed massage therapist, certified yoga instructor, and mental health counseling, as well as training in several types of bodywork, mindfulness, meditation and yoga, trauma work, success strategies, and trained in serving in underserved populations by such programs as The Prison Yoga Project. Melanie Osborn's mission is to bring healing and knowledge to as many people as she can in the short time we are all here. She works diligently to get access to as much healing content through online classes, videos, and writing. She lives with her son in Omaha, Nebraska, and is grateful to be rooted in the Heartland to ground her in this work. In her free time, you will find her with friends and family, hiking, biking, kayaking, singing, doing yoga, and listening to a lot of live music.
