Intro to "Sitting" for Meditation
Intro to "Sitting" for Meditation
In this class, we will learn how to “sit” for silent meditation. Using the principles of posture, energy alignment, and the breath, we will explore different ways to sit for our individual bodies, experimenting with zafus, chairs, blocks, blankets and extra props for comfort.
We will focus on capitalizing on the alignment and energy of the body, along with using and following breath, and tuning in (and then out). We will do a couple of extended sits to “play” with what we’ve learned.
Students will leave knowing their best relaxed positions for sitting meditation, and understand better energy alignment, using breath, how how to modify based on their day, mood, and intention. (We will also stress how to have fun and not take meditation too seriously, life is serious enough!)
This is an all-levels, inclusive, trauma informed class for all body and flexibility types.
Bring whatever props you want to use, and a bottle of water.
